A perfect blend of rich espresso, antioxidants from cacao and berries, and the creamy texture of nuts and milk—this smoothie is both energizing and indulgent! Ideal as a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon boost.

Ingredients:

  • 1 double shot of espresso (about 60ml, brewed and cooled)

  • 50g mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries—your choice)

  • 2 tbsp cacao nibs (for a rich chocolatey flavour and added antioxidants)

  • 50g hazelnuts (soaked for a smoother texture, or roasted for a deeper flavour)

  • 600ml nut milk (e.g. almond, cashew), oat milk, or dairy milk (choose your preference)

  • 1 tbsp honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the espresso: Brew your double shot of espresso. Let it cool slightly before adding it to the blender to avoid overheating the other ingredients.

  2. Blend the ingredients: In a high-speed blender, combine the cooled espresso, mixed berries, cacao nibs, hazelnuts, nut milk (or your choice of milk), and honey.

  3. Blend until smooth: Start blending on low and gradually increase the speed to high for 30-45 seconds, until everything is fully incorporated and creamy.

  4. Adjust sweetness: Taste the smoothie and add more honey if you prefer a sweeter smoothie. If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more milk to achieve your desired consistency.

  5. Serve: Pour the smoothie into a glass. Optionally, garnish with a few whole cacao nibs, a dusting of cocoa powder, or a few extra berries for a beautiful presentation.

Why This Espresso Cacao Smoothie is a Winner:

  1. Espresso: The caffeine from the espresso gives you an instant energy boost, perfect for kickstarting your day or overcoming that afternoon slump.

  2. Cacao Nibs: Packed with antioxidants, magnesium, and iron, cacao nibs not only add a rich chocolate flavour but also help improve mood and support heart health.

  3. Berries: Rich in vitamin C, fibre, and antioxidants, berries are great for boosting immunity, fighting inflammation, and supporting healthy skin.

  4. Hazelnuts: Hazelnuts provide healthy fats, vitamin E, and protein, helping to keep you fuller for longer and supporting brain health.

  5. Milk: Whether you choose nut milk, oat milk, or dairy milk, this liquid base adds creaminess and additional nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, and healthy fats.

  6. Honey: A natural sweetener that adds a touch of sweetness without the refined sugars, while providing antioxidants and potential digestive benefits.

This Espresso Cacao Smoothie is a powerhouse of flavour and nutrition. Whether you're looking for an energizing start to your day or a deliciously indulgent mid-day treat, this smoothie will give you the perfect blend of caffeine, chocolatey goodness, and wholesome nutrients! Enjoy!
